Jumping The Shark

The show I believe to have jumped the shark was Ghost Whisperer. I had been a huge fan of that television series for years, and was shocked to see how it turned out after the addition of a character. The main character Melinda, had a child in season 5, which made the show rather bland.  Shortly after, they killed off her husband only to bring him back unexpectedly.  (Because of the major loss of viewers). The plot shrunk down to only being about keeping her kid safe, and finding a way to return her husband to his original body.
Before the Jumping the Shark moment came however, it was actually a really great t.v. show. I enjoyed tuning in every week to see what would happen next. There was a sense of mystery that left me puzzled, but excited to see more. There were so many twists and turns, and I could never tell what was going to happen next. Those are the best kinds of shows in my opinion. The characters were great, and the overall storyline was so interesting. The ghosts that came into her life each had a great story to tell, and taught good lessons.  It was terrible to see it all go downhill, after all those years.
The show had became extremely confusing during season 5. Each episode was no longer unique and interesting. It became very predictable and repetitive. I had lost interest in it because of that, and no longer looked forward to watching it. It was dull, and it was a lot like watching someone go by their daily lives; A total bore. I wish they would have taken a different path on the storyline. It had great potential. I had always admired it for its sense of "unsafety." You would never be able to guess if a character would have gotten killed off or not because it was totally unpredictable. Bringing the kid in also could have led the show into so many different paths. Instead, they decided that all Ghost Whisperer would become about would be keeping Aiden safe. The show went off the air shortly after I stopped watching it.
