Stairs of J.C.
I chose the stairs as my object because it reminded me of the place where both Brutus and Antony delivered their powerful speeches. In Act 3 Scene 1, Antony stood at the top of stairs in order to be above all the citizens making it easier for him to be heard. If he hadn't been on a raised surface, no one would have wanted to listen to him. The stairs gave his speech a huge boost. The effect they had resulted in the successful persuasion of the people. They were able to see Caesars intentions from a different perspective. This is also the place where Caesars body was placed for all of them to see. The stairs were a very important part in the story in my opinion. Things could have turned out differently if the speeches hadn't been given on them.

Excellent job in noticing the small but significant details. I never thought about the stairs being significant, but your blog post put things a new perspective. Way to go! :D
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought of that! I like how you used something out of the ordinary and backed it up with reasons to convince the audience that they played a significant part in the play.
ReplyDeleteWho knew things so little could relate to the play! Very creative comparison. The height of the speaker DOES make a difference. Great job.
ReplyDeleteNice job in bringing out the small yet significant things in the play along with explaining your reasoning
ReplyDeleteIt's true how without the speeches being heard, who knows what could have possibly occurred
Using the stairs was a great connection. I believe that if the stairs weren't there, the people might not of listened to the speeches. A person being higher then others gives that person a sense of power.
ReplyDeleteI agree Pam! If there were no stairs during the speech, the dramatic and suspenseful tone wouldn't have been the same. Good point. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job Pam! I like how you noticed such small details and used great reasons to back up your point.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the above. I never saw the significance of the stairs until I read this! Like Brittany, Jennifer, and Jessica said, it was nice that you pointed out the significance of something that was thought to be so small. Good job!
ReplyDeleteObviously i agree with everyone about the small but significant things. great job
ReplyDeleteI also agree with everyone else on how the little things count :) nice job Pam!
ReplyDeletevery good details and i agree with you people wouldn't have paid as much attention if he wasn't high up above them on the stairs
ReplyDeleteI love the way you connected the stairs to the speches because they were powerful! Great Job!
ReplyDeleteaww what a clever idea i should have done that too. did you know that in the whole social pyramid situation thing, the nobler you are, back then they are always suppose to be higher on the stairs and if the peasants were higher, it was considered disrespect? (i learned this from gossip girl)
ReplyDeleteI never really thought about that, to be honest. I really like the fact that you used the stairs as a advantage to Antony, because like you said, who would have listened to him if he was at a low step? Great job!
ReplyDeleteThe stairs i had not even relized were so important. The way you explained it though, they really were needed and you noticed where the rest of us didn't even catch on. Way to go Pam!
